In recent weeks, devastating fires have raced across Australia, killing dozens of people and leaving thousands of others homeless. There are concerns that hundreds of millions of animals have died as an estimated 10 million hectares of bush, forest and park land has burned.

Hundreds of fires continue to burn across the county as months of summer weather still lay ahead in Australia.

The Archdiocese of Toronto is now accepting donations to help those affected by the Australian fires. Donations will be sent to the Australian St. Vincent de Paul Society, which will provide:

  • Emergency financial packages to those who have lost their homes or have been impacted by the fires in other ways.
  • Food, clothing, generators, household furniture, vouchers and other essential items.
  • Direct support with crisis accommodation or making referrals onto a range of other organisations and specialised services.
  • Much-needed emotional support and counselling.

One hundred per cent of donations are used to support those affected by the fires.

You can make a donation on the Archdiocese of Toronto's website or by phoning the Development Office at 416-934-3411.
